Sarnia Jail staff members participated in a Blood Drive on February 22nd.

Central Region Probation and Parole participated in meal preparation for the Out in the Cold Program, on February 17th,  plus made a donation of $200 plus female hygiene items.
Fort Frances Jail and Fort Frances Probation and Parole held a food drive collecting over 100lbs in non-perishable food items for Rainy River District Victim Services Program.  

Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre and London P&P held a Clothing Drive for Children’s Aid Society, London, Cozy Corner from February 7th-20th (value approximate value $800)

St. Lawrence Valley Treatment Centre and Brockville Jail held a ‘Fun-Fingerprint-Your-Kids Day’ on February 21st raising approximately $1000.00 to be shared between to Brockville Food Bank and Brockville Animal Shelter. Around 45 kids were finger-printed and there was a fair amount of positive interaction with the public.

 

Central North Correctional Centre Institutional Crisis Intervention Team (ICIT) members participated in a blood drive on February 20th for Canadian Blood Services.

Ontario Correctional Institute held a charity breakfast on February 20th, 2020, raising $650 for Safe Centre of Peel, which offers support to adults, child, and youth affected by abuse and violence in Peel.

Southwest Detention Centre held a public skate/food drive on February 20th, raising over $370 and 80lbs of non-perishable food donated to Windsor-Essex Food Bank.

Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre held a food drive on February 20th with proceeds going to Neighbor to Neighbor Centre raising over 524lbs in food and $1345 in money.  Each $1 value donated to the non-profit organization can turn into $11 of food at local grocery stores, so the $1345 can be turned into $14,795.

Toronto East Detention Centre held a clothing drive, with donations going to Warden Woods Community Centre.

Local OPSEU 369 executive members from Central North Correctional Centre stayed outside from 8 a.m. on February 19 until 8 a.m. on February 20.  $5190 was raised and donated to Coldest Night of the Year.

Ottawa Probation and Parole held a clothing drive on February 20th donating over 15 boxes full of clothing, shoes and personal care items to the Ottawa Mission Shelter.

Kenora Jail made a case donation of $300 to Women’s Place Kenora.

Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre hosted a fundraising pasta dinner and silent auction on February 21st raising over $6368, which was split evenly between Special Olympics Ontario and an ATRC member in need.

Local 234 OPSEU Executive members of Maplehurst Correctional Complex and Vanier Centre for Women stayed outside for a 24-hour period, beginning at 8 a.m. on February 20 and ended until 8 a.m. on February 21 raising $3400 for Halton Women’s Place.

Niagara Detention Centre held a charitable Barbecue/fundraiser on February 20th raising over $1840 for Niagara Children’s Centre.

Thunder Bay Jail and Thunder Bay Correctional Centre held a pet rescue adoption and fundraiser on February 20th, 2020.  Over $2000 was raised for Caring Hearts Cat Rescue, Thunder Dog Rescue, and Northern Lights Dog Rescue.

Monteith Correctional Complex held a charitable BBQ/Food Drive, with over $800 and 110 non-perishable food items donated to Iroquois Falls Association For Community Living.

Toronto South Detention Centre held a fundraising BBQ on February 20th raising $1015 for the LAMP Community Health Centre.

Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre held several charitable barbecues since February 5th with over $3800 plus a number gift cards donated to United WayCheo Hospital for Children and Rotel Foundation.
