Maplehurst Correctional Complex and Vanier Centre for Women teamed together and donated over 1000lbs for food for the Salvation Army in Milton.  Dec 20th, 2019

For the 15th year in a row, staff from Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre held a Christmas toy drive for the Boys and Girls Club of London.  Well Done!  Dec 19th, 2019

South-West Detention Centre staff caring for their local community by holding a BBQ on December 11th, 2019 to raise money for United Way Windsor-Essex.

The 2019 graduating class of Thunder Bay Correctional Officers raised $2537 for Draft An Athlete Program for the Special Olympics Canada 2020 Winter Games Thunder Bay 2020.  Awesome work!  Dec 6th, 2019.

Central North Correctional Centre and Simcoe Paramedic OPSEU members sponsored free skating at the Midland arena on Dec 4th, 2019 to raise awareness for First Responder occupational stress and money for the Boots on the Ground peer-to-peer support program, which is working toward establishing a presence throughout Northern Ontario to offer in-person peer support 24/7. Well Done!

South West Detention Centre and OPSEU staff contributed and participated in Grow On Windsor campaign, raising over $1000 that goes directly to Cancer Society for cancer research.  November 27th, 2019

Central North Correctional Centre staff members participate in, and raise money for, Guardians of the Flame Special Olympics 5k 1/2 Marathon Run. Oct 20th, 2019

Badge of Life and OPSEU members held four ‘Peers-Need-Peers’ BBQs and raffles in North Bay (Oct 7th), Timmins (Oct 8th), Sault Ste. Marie (Oct 10th) and Sudbury (Oct 11th) to raise awareness and money for the Boots on the Ground peer-to-peer support program, which is working toward establishing a presence throughout Northern Ontario to offer in-person peer support 24/7.  Almost $1500 was raised over the 4-day event.  Well Done!

Members from Central North Correctional Centre participated in the annual Midland and Area 10k Terry Fox Run, raising over $700.

Sarnia Jail and Sarnia Jail’s Health & Wellness Committee held a fundraising BBQ on August 15th, raising $300 for Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue and Sarnia Humane Society.

Sarnia Jail Staff hosted a fundraiser BBQ on August 2nd raising $280 for Sarnia Pride & Transgender Association

Badge of Life and OPSEU members held four ‘Peers-Need-Peers’ BBQs and raffles in Fort Frances (July 22nd), Kenora (July 23rd), Dryden (July 24th) and Thunder Bay (July 25th) to raise awareness and money for the Boots on the Ground peer-to-peer support program, which is working toward establishing a presence throughout Northern Ontario to offer in-person peer support 24/7.  Over $3200 was raised over the 4-day event.  Well Done!

On June 12th, 2019, Central North Correctional Centre staff participated the Midland and Area annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, followed by a BBQ at the Central North Correctional Centre.  Both events raised money for Special Olympics Ontario.

On June 5th, 2019, Thunder Bay Correctional Officers volunteered as food-servers at both Thunder Bay Boston Pizza locations helping to raise over $2600 for Special Olympics Ontario.

Sarnia Jail received a trophy commemorating 50 years of Special Olympics.

Correctional Officer Frank Krall, SouthWest Detention Centre Spirit Committee, and OPSEU Local 135 (SWDC) raising funds for HDGH Windsor and Bob Probert Ride.

Sarnia Jail staff held a fundraiser BBQ on May 10th, 2019 raising $450 for Sarnia’s St. Joseph’s Hospice Care.

Maplehurst Institutional Crisis and Intervention Team (ICIT) members participated and donated their time in #McHappyDay2019, raising money for Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House.  May 8th, 2019

Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre correctional staff participated and donated their time in #McHappyDay2019 at the Wellington/Bradley McDonald’s location in London, raising money for London’s Ronald McDonald House.  May 8th, 2019

Central North Correctional Centre Institutional Crisis and Intervention Team (ICIT) members participated in the Midland Blood Donor clinic on May 6th, 2019.  Well Done.

Thunder Bay Polar Bear Plunge! The total fundraising goal of $50000 was exceeded on April 13th, 2019, totalling $80744 (so far) with Team Thunder Bay Jail raising $1599, Team Thunder Bay Corrections raising $2486 and Team Region 7 OPSEU raising $4153!  Well Done.

Thunder Bay Corrections participated in the ‘Lake Superior Lawmen Tournament’ 2019, with proceeds to the Northern Lights Foundation and to children of needy families who suffer a life threatening illness.

HWDC Correctional Officer Angela Liddicoat participated in the polar dip on March 7 2019, and helped to raise $2,265 dollars for special Olympics.
