Guard your privacy from CSN

Toronto – CSN is trolling OPSEU/SEFPO Corrections members for their personal information in another desperate and irresponsible attempt at its failing raid.

OPSEU/SEFPO has learned that CSN is asking Corrections members for their WIN numbers which would give the Quebec-based union total access to their sensitive personnel information.

OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas says CSN also released members’ personal emails in a general message, making no attempt to safeguard that confidential information.

“This is pretty much the same as scam emails we all get from time to time asking for things like credit card information,” said Thomas.  “We all know the best thing to do with those is press ‘delete’ and that’s exactly what you should do with this CSN email. CSN belongs in your junk folder.”

Thomas also noted that because CSN does not represent OPSEU/SEFPO members, it has no responsibility to protect their personal information.

“The fact that they’re trying to bamboozle our members into giving up their personal information is a clear sign of desperation,” said Thomas. “Our members know better than to trust CSN, the used car salespersons of Canadian unions.”

While CSN is skulking around the province trying to hoodwink hardworking front-line Corrections members, OPSEU/SEFPO has been getting results. In 2020 alone, the provincial government announced among other things that it will hire 500 new corrections staff, build new corrections infrastructure, and pay recruits as they train to be Correctional Officers.

OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida, a Correctional Officer, says the choice is clear.

“OPSEU/SEFPO is there for you,” said Almeida. “We will protect you, defend you, and make sure you have the best wages, working conditions and benefits and pensions.”

“CSN will take your money and run, filling their Quebec-based coffers with your hard-earned dues and leaving you adrift hundreds of miles away from decision-makers.”
